Tesla Vs. Edison
The Infamous "War of Currents", AC vs. DC
Upon arriving in America, Tesla worked briefly for Thomas Edison. During his employment Tesla found the practices of Edison to be ridiculous. He claimed that his methods involved little science and instead incorporated a trial and error technique that Tesla saw as an incredible waste of time. Once Tesla left, he developed his own systems and techniques far superior to Edison's. Under the employment of billionaire George Westinghouse, Nikola Tesla made many of his greatest and most revolutionary inventions. AC (Alternating Current) electricity was among them. Coincidentally, the world had already been transfixed by another scientist, Thomas Edison. The "Wizard of Menlo Park" as he came to be known had introduced his DC (Direct Current) system many years prior, and already had a steady backing financially and socially. Edison, in his old age, could not bare to see his DC electricity pushed aside. In drastic attempts to prove Tesla's Alternating Current dangerous, he staged small presentations in VERY public areas.
These presentations consisted mainly of Edison employees electrocuting and killing various animals using extremely lethal levels Tesla's AC electricity.
The Columbian Exposition (Chicago Worlds Fair) was the final battleground in the "War Of Currents", ultimately resulting in favor of Tesla and AC.
